Your reading stays on your phone
There is nothing to sign up for. Your library, history, bookmarks and downloads live on your device, and a backup is saved every day. Translation runs on the iPhone itself, so the pages you read are not sent anywhere to be translated.
Questions
Is Mieru free?
Yes. Mieru is free, with no in-app purchases, no coins and no account. Translation runs on your iPhone with Apple’s built-in translation, so there is no quota to run out of.
Does Mieru have comics in it?
No. Mieru is a web browser. You open the sites you already read, and Mieru turns their chapter pages into a clean reader. It does not host or provide any comics.
Which languages can it translate?
Korean, Japanese (including vertical text) and Chinese speech bubbles, into English, Vietnamese, Spanish and the other languages Apple’s translation supports. Translating between Simplified and Traditional Chinese isn’t supported by Apple yet.
What do I need to translate inside the pages?
An iPhone or iPad on iOS 18 or later. Reading, ad blocking, downloads and the library work from iOS 17. The first time you translate a language, iOS may ask to download that language pack.
The translation missed a bubble or got it wrong. What now?
Machine translation can make mistakes, and some lettering is hard to detect. Tap a bubble to see the original next to the translation, and add character names to the series glossary so they stay consistent.
A site I read doesn’t open in Read Mode.
Mieru recognizes most chapter pages on its own, and site support is updated without an app update. If a page doesn’t work, write to us with the address and we will look at it.
Is there an Android version?
No. Mieru runs on iPhone and iPad.
What happens to my reading history?
Your library, history, bookmarks and downloads stay on your device. You don’t need to sign up, and you can export a backup whenever you like.
